The Arrival

For as long as anyone cares to remember, this domain has been an afterthought. Not empty — a handful of independents have kept it in some loose order — but beneath the notice of the great Covenants. It has no seat of power worth coveting, no ancient lineage to court, no strategic position worth a long letter, let alone a contingent.

That is changing.

Lancea et Sanctum and Invictus have entered into an alliance, and their shared gaze has settled here. Their stated purpose is civilisation: to bring this wayward domain into proper order under covenant law. Their emissaries speak of obligation, of the responsibilities owed to all Kindred by those blessed with structure and tradition. They arrived with three representatives each — save that Lancea's number is slightly higher, a discrepancy their spokespersons have not explained.

Word of this reached the ears of others quickly.

The Circle of the Crone and The Carthian Movement, strange bedfellows by any measure, have each dispatched their own small contingents — three apiece. Their motives differ. The Circle comes to stand with the locals, to protect what has grown here outside the strictures of covenant law. The Carthians come to observe, and perhaps to ensure that whatever order is imposed here does not go unchallenged. Both have an interest in what Lancea is doing here, and why they seem to care so much.

The domain's long quiet is over. Whatever each side claims to want, all of them are now here together, watching one another — and yet even combined they remain a minority against the locals who have kept this place for generations. The visitors may set the stage, but the outcome will depend on who those locals are, and what they choose.
